This is the exact question I asked myself almost 3 years ago. My answer was no. I said, “I don’t need another hobby. I am already pushing it with as much fishing and hunting as I do now.” I was wrong.
I wasn’t wrong because I absolutely love hunt tests. I was wrong because all of the training that you put into your dog/handler relationship leaves you with an exceptional hunting companion. So, it’s not so much about the hunt tests, it is about the group I train with. The learning relationships I have established with other handlers in the club has made it all worthwhile. And, I would not want to leave out the friendships that have been forged.
I absolutely cannot wait until we all join up again in the spring to knock the rust off the dogs and us, the handlers. Until then, its drills in the snow.
